About PaulOfTars.us
What is PaulOfTars.us?
PaulOfTars.us is a free online learning platform dedicated to advanced Biblical Studies, with a special focus on the life, letters, and theology of the Apostle Paul. We offer self-paced courses, certificate programs, and interactive learning tools designed to make rigorous theological education accessible to everyone.
Are you a university?
No. PaulOfTars.us is not a university and does not directly grant accredited degrees. We provide courses written and taught to graduate-level standards.
However, through our partnership with Northwestern Christian University (NCU), students who complete PaulOfTars.us certificates can now apply them toward a fully recognized degree at NCU. For a faith-based donation of $499, NCU will accept your PaulOfTars.us certificates as sufficient to earn a degree through their institution.
Who is behind PaulOfTars.us?
The courses and resources are developed by Dr. Hiram Bertoch (PhD, Biblical Studies), who has designed an extensive curriculum covering Pauline literature, biblical languages, hermeneutics, Old and New Testament surveys, and much more.

No. All materials are included within each lesson. We provide embedded readings, scholarly articles, and curated multimedia resources—so you’ll never need to purchase a textbook.
How much time will a course take?
Courses are designed for about 120–150 hours of study each, the equivalent of a master’s-level course. Since they are competency-based and self-paced, you can move quickly or take your time.
What level are the courses?
They are written at a graduate level, but remain accessible to anyone with a love for Scripture. Beginners will find clear introductions, while advanced students will appreciate the depth of scholarship.
Certificates, Degrees, and Programs
Do you issue certificates?
Yes. Students who complete a course can receive a PaulOfTars.us Certificate of Completion, designed with an official seal and background to recognize your achievement.
Is there a cost for certificates?
Yes, but only a small administrative fee. Courses themselves are always free, but fees help cover the costs of certificates and testing.
How does the Northwestern Christian University partnership work?
Through our partnership, certificates earned at PaulOfTars.us can be submitted to Northwestern Christian University (NCU). NCU recognizes our program’s graduate-level rigor and will accept these certificates toward a degree. By making a faith donation of $499, students may be awarded a degree through NCU based on the certificates they’ve completed at PaulOfTars.us.
This means that while PaulOfTars.us itself does not grant accredited degrees, your studies here can lead to a recognized academic credential through NCU.

Do you have an app?
Our site is mobile-friendly and works beautifully on phones and tablets. We are also exploring the possibility of offering a downloadable app in the future.
Can I preview certificates before I receive them?
Certificates are generated through our learning system (LMS). While there isn’t a preview button, you’ll be able to view your issued certificate with full styling and seal after course completion.
Theology and Pedagogy
What is your theological perspective?
PaulOfTars.us combines historical-critical scholarship with a strong commitment to the Gospel. We focus on Pauline paradigms, hermeneutics, and rigorous exegesis, encouraging students to integrate faith with scholarship.
Why focus on Paul?
Paul’s writings are central to Christian theology. His letters explore justification, grace, new creation, and the role of the church. Understanding Paul equips believers for faithful living, preaching, and teaching.

- Greek Alphabet Trainer
- Pauline Paradigms by Heart (scripture memory app)
These resources help students engage with the biblical text in its original languages.
